WIFI ACCESS ABOUT TO GET EASIER IN ITALY

It is a long time in coming, but Italy is about to catch up with many of its neighbours in the European Union and allow commercial establishments to offer unregistered access to WiFi signals. 

A law that forced commercial establishments to register users and store privacy data has just been turned over by the new government. 

"WiFi access in this country is a perfect example of Italy’s knack for making the simple complicated and the complicated impossible, and is often a problem for both residents and visitors here," says travel writer Renecca Winke in the Concierge in Umbria blog post. 

She reports that there has also been an increase in municipal WiFi hotspots. 

Until WiFi becomes more widely available an alternative option is to rental a mobile hotspot for $10-20/day.
