My Savvy Traveller was born out of the belief that discriminating travelers need and deserve a repository for trustworthy, fresh, local and hard-to-find travel intelligence. Like a seasoned market shopper, we scour the globe for leads that are fresh, locally-sourced, exclusive.
Launched in 2007 by writer, road warrior and aid worker, Michael Bociurkiw, the entries shared on the site come from a worldwide network of extremely well-travelled Savvy Agents and Angels - as well as friends and associates - most of whom actually live in the country they are writing about. Our own recommendations are carefully vetted. We rarely pass along recommendations that haven't been samples or visited at least twice. Frankly, it is not easy to receive the coveted Savvy stamp of approval, nor do we wish it to be.
Bociurkiw's travels have taken him to about a quarter of the countries and territories in the world. He has written travel stories for variety of publications, including Forbes Magazine, the South China Morning Post, MSNBC and Business Traveller. Click HERE to read a New York Times profile.
Co-founder Sharon Aeria - a Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur and businesswoman - first started her travels out of her native Singapore, before eventually touching down on the US West Coast in Silicon Valley. Between the two of them, they speak several languages and have logged well over a million miles in airplanes. Their love of great food and wine is legendary!
